Artwork Description

This is a fun story about a wise and beloved queen that suddenly it is accused to be crazy for her own people and force to leave her kingdom. In a comic way, it reflects on issues such as identity, madness, justice, society, politics and gender power relations. It is inspired by Khalil Gibran’s tale “The wise king” and also in real facts of last years of Brazilian’s politics.

Once there ruled in the distant city a queen who was both mighty and wise.

In the heart of that city was a water fountain, from which all the inhabitants drank, for there was no other well.

One night when all were asleep, a misterious wizard entered the city, and cursed the water saying: “From this hour who drinks this water shall become mad.”

Next morning all the inhabitants, except for the queen, drank from the water and became crazy.

“The queen is mad. Our queen lost her reason. Surely we cannot be ruled by a crazy queen. We must dethrone her.” everyone was repeating in the street again and again madly.
