This humorous story begins with a child being struck in the face by a shovel. From this unfortunate mishap, Fiona Meynier takes young readers on a journey through the history of earthmoving machinery and its role in reshaping landscapes, from battlefields to farmland. As Topor observed, “True stories can be recognised by the fact that they have no ending.” Like an excavator, the story digs out its own ending.
